Now Playing: chillcast top 20 of 2006 (anjibee.com)
Topic: my podcasts
happy new year, all. for this show, the last episode of 2006, i wanted to take a look back and showcase some great moments in podsafe music. for the music podcaster, there's so much to choose from and i'll never get to it all (never mind all of the music that i want to play and can't), so the next three shows will be dedicated to scanning the surface. all songs within this episode (with the exception of some background music) can be found on the podsafe music network. listen up for the cd giveaway on this show as well as a special holiday shoutout from the hostess of the chillcast. granted, if you're hearing this once it's 2007, it'll probably sound a bit dated. my bad - meant to have to show posted sooner, but the life of a father to a four-month old child is mad hectic.
in addition, the show begins with a brief nod to James Brown. i wanted to record a short spoken eulogy like i did for Dilla back in February, but time and parenthood wouldn't allow for such. besides, what could i say that hasn't already been said? all i'll say is this: George Clinton introduced me to funk, but James Brown remains the ultimate personification for me of what funk music is in theory, discipline, and practice. while his physical remains will be committed to the earth, his spirit lives on forever in his music. within my collection of soul and funk 45s, one name appears more than any other...that name is JAMES BROWN. respect due...
one last thing...if you like this show, please digg this show. thanks much for all your support. and as always, peace, beats, and blessings...
