BSOTS 021 - songs for a rainy day
Now Playing: the news on 1010wins (am radio)
Topic: my podcasts

just realized something...this is my 200th blog entry. cool.

this would've been up a day ago if my connection hadn't timed out while transferring the mp3 file. it's not like i wanna be on dial-up, but my options are limited seeing as how dsl service isn't offered in my neighborhood.

considering all the blasted rain we've received in the northeast portion of the states, figured that the episode title was as good as any. the women outnumber the men this time around. some r&b, some electronic selections (both downtempo and uptempo), and a little hip-hop to start things off.

i can already see the eyebrows raising when people hear the menoosha track, but whatever...i like it. it's easily the most mainstream-sounding song played on this podcast thus far, but it's still from an independent artist. it's a reminder that not everything underground is going to be gritty and grimy or rough around the edges. this is a song that could hold its own on the urban contemporary power radio stations of the world. i first heard menoosha a few months back on the hoodhype podcast and was struck by her right away. on a show that plays a lot of hip-hop (mostly party joints, southern crunk, pimp and floss type of material), her r&b stuff stood out. my wife was surprised that i'd include it - to her it sounds like a lot she already hears on the radio. she calls it a "freak me" track. "i don't like 'freak me' tracks unless prince does them," she says. "i've been spoiled."

this show marks the first cd giveaway for Radio BSOTS. oh yeah, for the record, the baby bounces in the belly to hip-hop. she seemed to take a liking to the havenots track. always a good sign...
