some reading material for the weekend...

happy friday, all.

there are days when i wonder if Mark Anthony Neal is getting closer to Michael Eric Dyson status, a type of cultural critic and author that is both praised and cursed. regardless, he's still my man, and this article delves into what he believes are the real reasons for hip-hop being under attack as of late. btw, he's going to be writing for vibe.com starting next month, so look out for that...

speaking of hip-hop, Saul Williams recently wrote an open letter to Oprah Winfrey regarding her forum on rap music. eloquently and respectfully written, you may be able to find this on his myspace blog. if not, check here to read the letter in its entirety...
