There have been some interesting developments since the Free Music Archive first appeared online some three years ago. Each artist page now comes with suggestions for similar artists within the archive. The FMA has also been blessed with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Every month there's a Tracks To Sync spotlight focusing on tracks set aside for noncommercial video producer use and now the site has started showcasing videos made featuring tracks from that series. If you follow the FMA on Twitter and Facebook or subscribe to their RSS feed, you'll be treated to the MP3 Of The Day, highlighting a selection from their vast archive. It's a great way to learn about new arrivals without feeling bogged down by the sheer volume of tracks within the archive.

So I'm back to finish what I started and put together another mix set of tunes from the FMA, including lots of hip-hop and beat science, some lovely head-nodding hybrids of electronic and rock stylings, some speech excerpts and spoken word, and even closing things out with gospel from the United States and Kenya. Feels like I've been away from the archive for far too long and now I'm in there almost every day looking for new stuff or finding cuts that I missed the first time around.
