For those that are wondering, SCPE stands for Spring Cleaning Podsafe Edition. I had been considering cleaning out the harmonic closet for a while and wanted to grab some cuts that had been lying dormant in the external hard drive for a while. This show is a memorial of sorts for a longtime trusted resource: IODA Promonet.

All good things must come to an end, I suppose. IODA Promonet has been very good to me throughout the life of this podcast. That site has allowed me to produce some great shows, including label profiles on Ghostly International and Mello Music Group. In fact, there's an all Promonet episode from two years ago that's still one of the most popular BSOTS shows on my Mixcloud channel.

There were incredible tracks hiding in plain sight, from the dreamy head nod atmospherics of Floyd The Locsmif and Blank Blue to the funky jazz of Catalyst and Sounds of Liberation. Now that IODA Promonet has been shut down, I wanted to play some back catalog cuts that I never got around to prior to the site's end. Their selection went pretty deep, including everything from acts like Toro Y Moi and Blackalicious to artists like Gregory Porter and Gretchen Parlato. I was always discovering new music there and pleasantly surprised by certain artists and labels that would pop up from time to time.

I'm not sure how other podcasters feel about it, but Promonet will be missed in my mind. Respect due to IODA.
