For the first show of 2014, I thought that I ought to spend some time flipping through the discography of our 2013 Camp Lo-Fi Label Of The Year: First Word Records. They've been around since 2003, but I only found out about the label around two years ago. They were consistently strong throughout 2013, so most of the show focuses on last year's releases with sprinklings of earlier cuts here and there. Hip-hop, jazz, soul, funk, electronic, even Afrobeat: they cover it all and do it exceptionally well.

(Oh yeah , see that guy in the picture above?  That's Tall Black Guy.  And he just might be your favorite producer's favorite producer...)
